Dharma Master Hsin Tao

Dharma Master Hsin Tao is the founder of Global Family for Love and Peace.

Born in Burma in 1948 and losing both parents at the age of four, Dharma Master Hsin Tao was tricked into joining a guerrilla army when he was nine years old. At the age of 15 Master Hsin Tao heard the story of Bodhisattva Guanyin, the Goddess of Compassion. From that moment, Master Hsin Tao made a vow to spend his life following the spiritual example of Bodhisattva Guanyin, working for peace through dialogue, education and service, combining religious practices with social activism.

At the end of a two-year fasting retreat, Dharma Master Hsin Tao established the Ling Jiou Mountain Monastery. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, in a pristine natural environment with exquisite landscape and ecology, the Monastery is the ideal location for spiritual practice.

In 2002 Master Hsin Tao opened the Museum of World Religions in Taipei. MWR's mission is to foster greater understanding, respect, and engagement for all the world's religions and spiritual traditions. Artifacts are related to the major religions and spiritual traditions, and there are interactive displays illustrating the role religion plays in daily life, creating a dialogue and interaction with the visitor.

Through Global Family for Love and Peace Master Hsin Tao directs projects in Myanmar: Dayu Nursery, Education and Support Program for Disadvantaged Children, and the Nongman Farm where farmers use sustainable agricultural practices.

Dharma Master Hsin Tao was a speaker at the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and at the Parliament of the World’s Religions, is a member of the Elijah Interfaith Institute Board of World Religious Leaders, and is a recipient of the Interfaith Visionaries Award from the Temple of Understanding.
