Poetry Slam for Peace 2020: Shaping Peace Together

The Fourth Annual Poetry Slam for Peace was held online on September 19, 2020 to celebrate the UN Day of Peace on September, 21. 

It was Sponsored by the Museum of World Religions, Chan Space NYC, UNITY EARTH, the NGO Committee on Sustainable Development-NY, PURPOSE EARTH and International Children’s Month.

Artists included Tanya Evanson, Ruby Singh, Freedom Ceremonies, EPIK Dance Company, Reverend Billy and Ian Keteku.

The event was broadcasted by the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, a cultural icon in New York’s Lower East Side since 1973. The Cafe presents groundbreaking works of literature, music, theater, performance art, poetry slam, hip-hop, visual art, and established champions as well as rising artists from every background and age group.

The 2020 Poetry Slam for Peace is part of the culmination of UNITY EARTH’S Caravan of Unity, a cross-country movement starting in San Francisco at Grace Cathedral. The Caravan moved across the United States to reach New York City for Peace Weekend.
