Here on Earth
About HERE ON EARTH
Based in New York, collaborating with students, educators and artists all over the world, Here On Earth is a creative educational project for young filmmakers and climate leaders.
This is a place to learn, to grow, and to share your voice. We nurture a positive relationship with the environment by focusing on collaboration, connection and creativity.
Creative Program
Here On Earth began during the dark days of the pandemic as an environmentally-focused film collective to highlight our connection to nature and to each other. Collaborating with artists and activists from New York, London and Taipei, we have provided creative workshops, a guest speaker series, and an interactive website that allows virtual visitors a chance to continue a meaningful conversation. Partnering with teachers, organizations, and creative projects, Here On Earth continues to promote environmental art-making and involve youth in co-envisioning a sustainable future through filmmaking residencies and public programs.
Education and Outreach
The Wather Where I Live
The Water Where I Live Youth Film Projects is a 4 month program for a select group of teen filmmakers from the US and abroad. We are based in New York City and we offer a platform for exploring innovative approaches to the media arts, developing exciting collaborative ways of working while exploring environmental science. The program consists of weekly meetings, screenings, field trips, and regular sessions with mentors, artists, and scientists.
The Hudson meets the Seine: City-As School goes to Paris!
Water separates the 5 boroughs in New York City. Manhattan is surrounded by 3 rivers and the Atlantic Ocean. The ocean controls our climate and weather patterns. How much do you know about the water where you live?
Here On Earth is investigating this question with City-As School in New York City as they prepare for a trip to Paris on Jan. 24’. By inspiring new ways of seeing these river cities through media arts and poetry, the students become active travelers and learners.
Harbor School Collaboration
Collaborating with Magic Box Productions, we established an environmental artist residency program at the Harbor School on Governors’ Island. We are working with students from Marine Policy and Advocacy, Aquaculture and Professional Diving programs, helping students explore the local waters and create original ocean stories.
