Buddhist Muslim Dialogues
In light of events starting with the destruction of the Buddha statue in Bamiyan, Afghanistan, the attack on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11 and the ensuing US led war on terrorism, interreligious dialogue and cooperation between faith communities have become imperative and urgent for world peace. Interfaith work that embraces both grass-roots and religious leadership offer solutions to problems where political and diplomatic approaches have failed.
Religious and cultural diversity is often exploited by political agendas as tool for conflict and war, rather than used as an opportunity for mutual enrichment, understanding and respect. Peace education is crucial to address current challenges in globalization, militarization, poverty, social injustice, oppression, and environmental degradation. Interfaith and peace education needs to be incorporated into school cirriculums and into the religious education program of every temple, church and mosque world-wide.
With this ultimate goal in mind, Global Family for Love and Peace initiated and sponsored a series of dialogues in different parts of the world. The Dialogues` goals are to create a partnership between religious communities to face the numerous challenges of the 21st century using cooperation and friendship.
In 2021 GFLP hosted Second Buddhist Muslim Youth Dialogue and the Seventeenth Dialogue in the series. This was a virtual event.

Parliament of the World’s Religions
The Parliament of World Religions held it’s first conference in 1893 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The Parliament was the first formal public meeting of representatives of the major religions in the history of the world. Not only was this first Parliament at the forefront of religious cooperation between western and eastern practices, but it also recognized Black Americans and women as relgious leaders. To this day, the Parliament continues to address not only cross-faith dialogue but also pressing social justice issues and matters of inclusion.
GFLP partners with the Museum of World Religions to participate in the Parliament, which is held every two years. Enganging in interfaith dialogue and listening to different practices’ perspectives on issues such as racism, climate change, and gender inequality is essential to GFLP’s goal of spreading peace and awareness.
